Welcome to the 2016/2017 Hockey season!
My name is Scott Papineau and I am the Novice Director for the 2016/2017 season. This is my third year as the Novice director and I am looking forward to a great season. The executive has been busy over the summer reviewing our policies and procedures as well as organizing the details for this years season. Last season we made some changes to the evaluations that included using competitive thread to help us administer a timed skill evaluation at the Novice level. This year we will be continuing with the timed skills as well as utilizing a 1/2 ice scrimmage session during the evaluation process. I am confident that the new processes that we have added will increase the speed and accuracy of our evaluation process and allow for an appropriate placement of our players writhin the Novice division.
Please continue to check the website for updates to the season timeline and evaluations schedule. I will be using the website and division page to update you on evaluation ice times and player movement throughout the process. As many of you know our association runs on the time and effort put forth by our parent volunteers and as such we will be asking for your help during the evaluations and throughout the season. I will be actively recruiting parents to help on the bench during the evaluation skill and scrimmage sessions as well as parents to step up and fill the required positions on each team this season. Each Novice team will require a Head and assistant coaches as well as Team Manager and various other parent volunteers. If you are interested in coaching please submit your application before the Aug 20, 2016 deadline. We will be scheduling coach interviews shortly after the deadline date to ensure that we have coaches in place for the start of the season.
